Cold Weather Challenged

Friday, November 13th, 2009

CWC 2009OK, so it’s going to be unseasonably warm. I’m sure the diehards will complain, but it only means most of us have no excuse not to get on our scooters and ride this Saturday, November 14 when the 2009-10 Cold Weather Challenge season kicks off.

This year’s CWC starts with a ride from Galewood’s legendary Kat Klub at 5pm. Rye and SR lead the troops and are back around 8pm for Berryoke.

If you’re not riding, pop in at Kat Klub anytime – there’s no cover, you can sing for free and drink for cheap.  We’ll be there till they kick us out.

The F Word

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

F Word! We’d hate to see what South Park would do to scooterists, so we’re glad they took on Harley riders first.

Don’t hesitate, check out the already legendary F Word episode. Our favorite bit comes about 5 minutes in.

Scooter Troopers

Thanks to Flav Dave for noticing this…

Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Combines scooting with shooting! Typical Vegas rally fare if you ask us…

Note the funky handlebars – that’s an ACMA produced Vespa under license from Piaggio.

November in Chicago

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Just a quick note to spread the word on what we’re up to these next couple of weeks…

Nov. 3 – this Tuesday! – The Garageland gang gives it another go at Liars Club – 1665 W Fullerton Ave. JJ will be spinning soul 45s

Nov. 7 – Party Marty has a birthday and invites friends to spin punk rock. Great excuse for everyone to head to Blue Island…

Nov. 13 – Windy City Soul Club – it’s been a pretty wild first year for the WCSC. Four venues and countless killer records. Back at Sonotheque for November – 1444 W Chicago Ave.

Nov. 14 – Cold Weather Challenge Kick Off Party – we look forward to this every year. Not because we’re crazy enough to ride a scoot when it’s freezing (three cheers to those who do, but we’d rather be wrenching in a heated garage and dreaming of next summer)… but because the Galewood crew knows how to throw a party. We’ll be at Kat Klub – 6920 W North Ave – with BERRYOKE!
