Saturday, Windy City Soul Club returns to Empty Bottle for more floorpounding northern classics and modern rarities. Brad Hales from Ann Arbor Soul Club and Peoples Records Detroit comes in for a guest set, so don’t miss it!

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Day 1 of IMS at the Stevens Convention Center in Rosemont was a blast! The Mods v. Rockers booth looks boss, thanks to the hard work of Ton Up Club Chicago. We’ll be here all weekend long, so come out and stop by. Head over to the gallery and check out the pics as we set up for the big event.

And see you at Cobra tonight for CBH’s monthly reggae and soul party.

Tons of Feb. WCSC Pics

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Windy City Soul Club is back for February this FRIDAY, Feb. 5, at the Empty Bottle. WCSC welcomes Dante of Danny’s ever-popular funk night in… we hear he has a killer northern soul collection, so it’ll be great to see what he brings. See you there!

Ton-Up Meets MayDay SC

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

We’re mixing it up with our good friends… err, mortal enemies… the Ton Up Club for a Mods vs. Rockers booth at the Cycle World International Motorcycle Show. Stop by and check us out, we’ll have 6 scoots and god knows how many motorcycles, plus loads of memorabilia from the Chicago scooter scene! Show runs from February 19-21 out in Rosemont at the Stevens Convention Center.

Best way to get there is on the Hobgoblin Beer Bus – meet on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2pm, at Five Star Bar. $10 gets you on the bus with all the beer you can drink… bus returns from the show at 7pm.  Ton Up Chicago follows it up with their anniversary party at Five Star.

And if bobbers are your thing, don’t miss
The Harbortown Bobber screening at Portage Park on Thursday, February 18.  Check the Ton Up Chicago website for more info.

You Were There!

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Eric was thereGet in the Gallery, cos Jordan put up a ton of pictures from the January edition of the Windy City Soul Club… gotta admit, there were more people there than we realized! Lots of familiar faces in the pictures, some dancing right alongside the MayDays… didn’t know it! It was that kind of night.

More pics here courtesy of NBC 5. Wow! TimeOut Chicago returned the favor… NBC covered the event as well, very nice.

Up next: January 22, Don’t miss JJ and Ben guest DJing with at Jay Wells’ fantastic soul monthly at the fantastic Whistler. This party happens the fourth Friday of every month, and you shouldn’t miss a single one.

Next WCSC night will be the first Friday in February, 2/5/2010, and still at the Empty Bottle. Doors at 10pm (although you can certainly arrive earlier, JJ starts spinning popcorn and rnb sounds around 9:30 to get the vibe going), on $5.

A huge thanks to The Get Down for hosting such a fantastic party… and Mr. Fine Wine for the fab tunes. Also, check out Violetville Vintage… thanks for the hospitality!

Late Bar Opening Party!
3534 W Belmont Ave
Chicago, IL 60618
10pm til 5am; no cover
You read that correctly… til 5. If you hadn’t heard, Dave and Kristine found a bar with a 4am license and a music & dancing permit – two of the rarest commodities in Chicago nightlife. It’s the equivalent of a TV175 barn find. It just doesn’t happen. Lucky for us, it did, and they open the bar with DJ Dave Roberts’ signature event, Planet Earth.

Wednesday, Dec. 30
45 Soul Dancers at Late Bar
3534 W Belmont Ave
Chicago, IL 60618
10pm til 4am; no cover
Jenny, MLE, and JJ have been asked to spin the first soul tunes at Late Bar, and we couldn’t be happier. New Years Eve Eve! Start a new tradition and dance all night.

Thursday, Dec. 31
The Get Down New Years Party
Bay View Brewhaus
2535 S Kinnickinnic Ave
Milwaukee, WI 53207
10pm til they kick us out; $10
If you haven’t been to Milwaukee for NYE, you owe it to yourself to make the trek. For one night closing hours are ignored and the town stays open all night. Some bars won’t close until January 2. We’re not kidding. We have no idea how late the Brewhaus will let us stay, but we do know that we’ll get all the hot Get Down DJs, The Chain will be playing a live set, Mr. Fine Wine of Downtown Soulville (WFMU) will be spinning, JJ will be there to represent the Windy City Soul Club, there’s free falafel, and in general it will be an amazing party.
