February at the Soul Club

Thursday, February 10th, 2011For the second year running, MayDay SC has been asked to bring some class to Ton Up Chicago’s Mods v. Rockers booth at 2011′s IMS, opening this Friday. Come check out vintage scoots (and Ton Up’s collection of British steel) this weekend and all the other gear IMS offers.
We’ll be at IMS every day, on Friday from 3p – 9p; Saturday from 9a – 9p; Sunday from 9a – 5p.
And If you’re here for the British bikes, check out Ton Up’s Motorcycle Mania on Saturday, Feb. 12. You didn’t hear it from us…
Two Years for WCSC

The party has held sway at Empty Bottle for a year as well, so make your way over there this Saturday, December 4 for another monster party. The WCSC boys have freebie CD mixes to give away and new tshirts to sell. Can’t say they haven’t been busy… check the video

Spirit of ’86 at Late Bar
Saturday, November 6th, 2010Calling all scooterists then and now… it’s officially parka weather, and time for our end-of-season party.
Late Bar’s fantastic weekly The Merge hosts a reunion for all classic Chicago scooter clubs with Spirit of ’86. We got a cream of the old school mod crop DJing their favorites all night, featuring Allez Cat legends Rob the Mod, Aret, Tommy Riviera, Lady J, and Mike Park!
It’s free, and the party kicks off at 10pm. We go till 4am! No excuses (flat tire, seized piston, basketcase electric problems) – just pull the parka out of storage and shine up your loafers. See you there!!

An Ace October Weekend

Fall riding season officially kicks off with ACE’s annual Octoberfest show. And we’re gonna get going a day early this year with a scooterboy invasion at the Merge.
Start the party on Friday, October 1 at Late Bar with a special northside appearance of the FCS Soundsytem: Southside Eric, Party Marty, and Dr. S. We start at 10pm and the dancefloor wraps up at 4am. Expect the range of sounds you’d normally only find south of 95th Street.
Following day, Saturday, October 2 meet at ACE Motorcycle & Scooter Co. for the annual Octoberfest vintage rally. This ride in vintage show starts at 1pm and goes till 5pm, with all sorts of awards available. Ton-Up Chicago brings the legendary mobile pub, Ace is grilling hot dogs and brats.
Spread the word and we’ll see you Friday AND Saturday!
Slaughterhouse 16
Wednesday, September 1st, 2010Chicago’s annual scootering tradition, Slaughterhouse, kicks off its Bittersweet 16 this Thursday, September 2 at Late Bar. Special shopping and BBQ at Scooterworks sounds good, and a couple of rides take off from Exit on Friday night. Saturday starts at ACE and ends at Cobra Lounge for the scooter prom. Sunday’s gymkhana is hosted once again by Motoworks.

Busy week in Chicago… find us at Late Bar on Wednesday, July 7 for Mixtape Meltdown and Chuck Wren’s ALL 80s SKA NITE, with the debut of the new HEAVY MANNERS 12″ single, their first new recordings since the early 80s! Late Bar also has tickets to giveaway for Saturday’s debut from The Crombies.
Friday night, July 9, Secret Society Scooter Club leads us all back to Late Bar for the first monthly scooter night – part of the weekly Merge celebration. Inaugural DJs include Lady J, MLE, Aret, and JJ. Should be more Crombies / Mustard Plug tickets to giveaway too! Ride meets at 9:45pm at New Wave Coffee in Logan Square, embarking at 10:30 for an hour long city ride ending at Late Bar.
Saturday, July 10, is the day live 2 Tone returns to Chicago, with The Crombies hitting the stage at Beat Kitchen in support of Mustard Plug. Don’t miss it - buy tickets online now! They’re only $12, you get 4 bands, more Chuck Wren, it’s 17+ and starts at 8:30pm.
