An Ace October Weekend

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Fall riding season officially kicks off with ACE’s annual Octoberfest show.  And we’re gonna get going a day early this year with a scooterboy invasion at the Merge.

Start the party on Friday, October 1 at Late Bar with a special northside appearance of the FCS Soundsytem: Southside Eric, Party Marty, and Dr. S.  We start at 10pm and the dancefloor wraps up at 4am. Expect the range of sounds you’d normally only find south of 95th Street.

Following day, Saturday, October 2 meet at ACE Motorcycle & Scooter Co. for the annual Octoberfest vintage rally.  This ride in vintage show starts at 1pm and goes till 5pm, with all sorts of awards available.  Ton-Up Chicago brings the legendary mobile pub, Ace is grilling hot dogs and brats.

Spread the word and we’ll see you Friday AND Saturday!

Slaughterhouse 16

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Chicago’s annual scootering tradition, Slaughterhouse, kicks off its Bittersweet 16 this Thursday, September 2 at Late Bar.  Special shopping and BBQ at Scooterworks sounds good, and a couple of rides take off from Exit on Friday night.  Saturday starts at ACE and ends at Cobra Lounge for the scooter prom.  Sunday’s gymkhana is hosted once again by Motoworks.

All this with a special guest appearance from this fella…

Merge + Mods v. Rockers

Friday, June 18th, 2010

As if last week’s MODchicago wasn’t enough for us all, tonight we start Late Bar’s WEEKLY Merge party!  Good god!!

It all kicks off at 9pm with JJ on the decks spinning a mix of 6ts rnb and mod revival 45s.  Late Bar is open till 4am on Friday so the party goes all night.  Mods v. Rockers is screening Quadrophenia at the Music Box at midnite – if you go, you gotta promise to come back to Late Bar.

Tomorrow you’ll find us on Lincoln Ave soakin’ in the scene at Mods v. Rockers – Ton Up Club Chicago’s annual beast of a block party.  Check out the full list of events. Eye popping! Hard to believe how this thing has grown.

We think the $25 all-access pass is well worth it: you can start our tonight at ACE at 7pm, ride up to LATE BAR, and then tomorrow you’re all set for bike registration, fish-n-chips dinner, and the Irving Parkas gig! Oh yeah, hadn’t heard? The Irving Parkas play Saturday, June 19 at Bottom Lounge with All Mods Conned and London Calling.  $10 if you just want to see the Parkas play – the boys go on first at 9pm.

On top off all this, Mike Seate from Cafe Racer will be on hand filming the whole thing. So bring your bikes and look your best!

High Rollers Rally Gallery Now Open

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Recovering after a 14 hour “nap” – Vegas will do that to you. Or at least the High Rollers rally will. Jordan5 documents the scene like none other, so head over to our Gallery now and get a taste of all the parking lot action from Saturday’s bike show. A little rain never stopped a good scoot…  we ain’t here to paint, afterall.  And this year, the Tecate Tree was good to us.

Loads of Chicagoans were there, including JJ and Jordan from MayDay SC, Karrie and Casey from Secret Society SC, Darren, Silent Ron, Rye B. and Alison, Kevin from Windy City Soul Club, Benny and Erin, and we-wish-they-were-still-Chicagoans, Manager John Manion and Kris.  Are we missing anyone?  They’re probably still at the Las Vegas Club trying to catch a lobster.

And if 200+ photos in the Gallery ain’t enough, find even more pics on our facebook page.
